Big Skies

Finally, I’m out of school until September, and have time to work on my various personal projects!!

An epic cross-country move is looming over us, with a tentative departure of next week. While moving is always stressful, I nevertheless look forward to the unwarranted, unexpected, and concentrated motivational inspiration, hitting the road always seems to offer my creative side. Being away too long from the mountain pines, filled with big sky breezes, hanging over snowmelt streams, takes a hefty toll on my bearings. No matter where I may inevitably stroll, The Bitterroot will always have my heart and soul.

My writing has felt much like a trapped avian, caged by fleeting time and daunting obligation. Without ceremony  –and quite abruptly, the cage has collapsed, and I stretch my cramped wings to grasp the winds of freedom. Now my mind frantically strikes out toward leisurely activities desperately searching for the healthy recuperation of a charred cortex.

Until the next bout of partially cognitive ramblings, I wish all who may pass upon my digitally derived decompression, a wonderfully happy and productive life cycle!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Please note that the inactivity on this site is in no way representative of the amount of writing I have actually been doing! Some new pieces will be posted sometime this week, including a short work called “Random Access Memory” that is quickly becoming an inspiration for further writings.

In other news, I’ve been asked to be a guest speaker at Crowder College in Jane Missouri on Veteran’s Day this year. I’m not sure of the exact time that I will be speaking, but I will update this post with the info shortly. If you happen to be in the area and are interested, please come see me! I will be reading “Skies over the Tigris,” along with a short dedication to the Veteran’s I served with, in particular those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Thank you for taking the time to check out the site!

Forward Momentum

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to sit down and groom the site! Over the next few days I will be adding new sections and uploading more work.

Also, an official announcement; both, “A Soldier’s Constant…” and “Skies Over the Tigris” won writing contests and will be printed in an anthology to be used as course material for next year’s English Composition I and II classes at NWACC. I am elated to be among the student authors chosen!

Hello world!

Hey everyone, welcome to The Sandbag Bunker at maxineijfilcher.com! Since there has been such an interest in my writing I thought I should create a space for everything to be shared. Thank you for taking the time to check out the Bunker, I hope you enjoy my work.
